It isn’t often I agree with some of the anti-Apple screed writers these days but this one struck close to home. iPhone 11 Pro takes great portraits and the bokey effect is an excellent touch. However, it’s also the one easy way to tell the difference between a portrait photo shot on an iPhone vs. one shot with an expensive DSLR camera.
Let’s call it photo fakery. Tiernana Ray uses the term, too.
I performed an experiment: I took a series of shots with an iPhone 11 and a digital still camera at the same time. The set-up for the test was a photo shoot with my friend Natalia. The camera loves Natalia — every camera loves this lady — so she was a perfect choice as the model for the experiment.
